Let’s Talk About You: “I Am Most Thankful Of….”

Thanksgiving was just couple weeks ago and even if it isn’t the day of giving thanks, we shouldn’t stop for being grateful to things.

To start this off, I am thankful for all the things I have right now and most especially I am thankful for all the people that have never left me. I am thankful that I wake up every morning with a smile in my heart. And I am thankful to a person that made me strong. Thankful for every lesson I learned from my past relationship will always remain and whatever wrong-doings we created will always be a lesson to me, a lesson which is never to be repeated in the future.

But this prompt is not about me. This time, it will be about you.

I still try to participate on this writing prompts as much as possible and I am now engaging other people who are actually in a long distance relationship. And for the last few days, I gathered up some information and opinions and asked them one question, which is:

“What are you most thankful about your long distance relationship?”

And without further adieu here are my friends say about their relationship.

The day I met him. The day I found him. Those were the things that I am thankful for. And I am thankful that I chose him, because he makes me feel blessed. You know, even though we are 8k+ miles away from each other 12 to 13 hours time difference he always makes me feel that he’s near me. He never failed to make me happy. And the most, and unforgettable moment in my LDR, and I am VERY thankful for it; It was the time when he told me that he will come here and stay for good. Many of us Filipino’s want to live in America or somewhere else. They have this “american dreams” he can freely stay in US, have a great life, find nice job. But he chose to go here, and study again here. And to be with me. And he said whenever he needs to go back in US he will marry me first, or he will make sure that I can also come with him. And I am thankful for that.  – Judy

Let’s see what Mgz and L.A have to say about the things that they are thankful of their relationship..

I have a lot of things to be thankful for. I’m thankful that she choose me. I’m thankful that her family and relatives likes me. I’m thankful that she never fails to show me that she loves me even though we are miles apart. I’m hoping that none of us will never give up despite the distance and challenges; I’ll forever be grateful and thankful if that’ll happen. – Mgz

I’m really thankful that nothing changed since we first talked, first met, up until now that we are already in our 7th month. Communication is still constant. Feelings stayed the same. If it did changed, it just became deeper and stronger – L.A

One thing that could build up and strengthen up the relationship is their faith and see what Kaye has to say.

Out of everything, I am most thankful of my partner. I am thankful that he is the person he is, that he never fails to come through for me and that we have God as our center.

With all sacrifices comes with a happy ending. I asked Jae of Scatterbrain to help me finish the prompt and since she and her husband was in a LDR before they close the distance, I thought she would be a perfect fit for this.

Now, let’s see what she is thankful of her long distance relationship.

People wouldn’t expect me to say this, but I’m thankful for the timezone difference. It’s true that it’s difficult to be waking up to a sleeping significant other and vice versa, but that’s where you learn to compromise and make time. Some days, I would wake up earlier just so we could have at least an hour to talk before my then-boyfriend-now-husband went to bed and vice versa.

I’m thankful for the petty fights because I eventually realized that some things weren’t just worth bickering about. We both made efforts in letting some things go before they become blown out of proportion.

I’m thankful for my significant other because it takes two to tango. Being in a long-distance relationship isn’t for everyone. In order to make it work or survive in one, you must be a hundred-folds more patient and invested in the relationship; otherwise, everything will only just fall apart.

And again, I am grateful for these amazing and wonderful ladies for participating in my writing prompt! I will forever cherish small things like this, again, thank you 🙂
